The rest of the story

On Tuesday night out of the corner of my eye, I see Ady and Emberly goofing off. Beau is about to leave for YM/YW. Then a tumble and severe crying. Emberly fell off of Ady's piggyback ride and was holding her elbow. She was unconsolable. Crying and turning slightly gray as we have learned means SERIOUS pain for Emberly. As her sisters are trying to distract her, she's screaming wanting to be left alone, and closing her eyes as if wanting to go to sleep to escape the pain. Beau realises he is not leaving. We give her ibuprofen, and she calms down slightly. About 2 hours into the ER waiting she starts using her arm. Hour 3 (11:00) they finally get called back. Emberly can touch her head, and her back. No x-rays. grrrr.

Wed. morning arm is stiff and she doesn't want to put it in the sleave of her shirt. It's slightly swollen at the elbow and warm to the touch. In we go to the Ripon hospital and HOPE they will do x-rays. Pretty much go right back. They're nice but still look at me like, she's using her arm you worried protective mother. Upon viewing the x-rays they see what looks like a break but to them she is using her arm too much. SHE'S ON IBUPROFEN TO KEEP HER FROM CRYING! The computer is down so they have Harrogate check the x-rays. Harrogate says to wrap it and gives us an appt. in the fracture clinic Fri. a.m.
They call back Aubryelle, get that sorted, can't find her x-ray, get that sorted, yep it's broken straight across the humorous above the elbow. We are scheduled next week for another x-ray to make sure the bone hasn't shifted IN THE CAST.

I'm so glad we went back for x-rays. If it can shift in the cast and need to be reset, can you imagine the pain she would've been in and the possibility of it shifting not being in a cast.

She should get it off in 3 weeks.

Oh my! Poor little tyke! Can't believe she had to endure all of that due to medical facilities...I sure hope it hasn't shifted, and heals properly quickly.
That is her second break...wrap that kid in cotton balls!

So sad and scary!! It's a good thing little ones seem to heal so fast and so well (we hope). Way to stick with your instincts and keep on going back!!! I gotta say I am not that impressed with your wait times at the hospital and your treatment:( So sorry!! I hope she heals perfectly and fast!!! Thanks for the 'rest of the story' :) She will be in my prayers!!

How frustrating! It's better to be safe than sorry people! I would want to scream at them! I'm sorry Sherrill...poor you and Emberly. That sounds so very painful, and I'm impressed that she handled it for so long. Poor girl...she will be in our prayers for sure! (so glad Beau happened to still be home when all that happened!)

So Sorry! Hang in there! Hopefully it won't bother her anymore. Have you ever thought of bubble wrap clothing? LOL

Poor little girl! This has not been a good month for Emberly. Boy, is that ever maddening to get the run-around at the hospital! Hope her little arm heals well. If ya have to have a cast, it's nice it's pink! Sorry for all the hassle, though. Grrr
