"The Gunpowder Plot" - disclaimer - videography affected by toddler noise and tugging. Also contains "executed"

Every Friday, right after I drop the girls off at school, they have an assembly that parents are invited to come to. Sometimes I think this is the one thing that keeps Ady going - the countdown of days until I come and see if she receives a reward at assembly. This week they worked on this play to learn about Guy Fawkes day. They're always sad that Dad has to miss the assembly while he works, so they asked me to tape the play for him. Ady is sitting behind the gray head for the first part, then her face is completely shined by the sun during the second part. I guess she and Kalysta will each get their moments to shine. You couldn't see Kalysta in the last school film, now you can't really see Ady.

Kate - In 1605 Robert Catesby decided he was not happy with the government.
Mia - He met with 7 other men in secret and they plotted to blow up the Houses of Parliament.
Molly - They rolled 36 barrels of gunpowder and hid them in the cellars of the Houses of Parliament.
Greg - One of the men was friends with a man who worked in the Houses of Parliament. He wrote a letter to warn his friend to stay away from the Houses of Parliament on the 5th November. (Kalysta is pretending to write a letter.)
Joseph - But the letter was taken to the king.
Ben - The king read the letter and found out the plot to blow up the Houses of Parliament on the day he was going to be there.
Rhys - The king was shocked and angry.
Faye - He sent his guards to hide in the Houses of Parliament.
Kalysta - When the men came in to the Houses of Parliament the guards came out and arrested them.
Max - They were taken to the king and interrogated. (Ady gets to guard/take one of the girls away)
All - Then they were executed!
Tyler - And we have bonfires now to say thank you for the plot to have failed.

How fun- It's still hard to believe they are old enough to rehearse and perform things like that. What fun times. That is an interesting story too!

Wow- this is quite a dramatic story for wee ones. Sounds like an interesting celebration. Why is it that holiday's always sound so wierd when you don't grow up with them:D?
